Teaching

I taught singing at More House School from September 2001 until July 2011. It’s a small independent Roman Catholic school for girls located in London SW1.
The school is abuzz with music – there are numerous choirs and instrumental ensembles and the school lays on impressive concerts.
For ten years I directed the Junior Chamber Choir, the specialist choir for Years 8 and 9 girls. We performed a mixture of folk, classical and pop repertoire, sometimes specially arranged.
I usually taught about sixteen girls aged 11-18 on a weekly basis. I prepared my pupils for Associated Board examinations, also helping out with aural training, concert preparation, etc. It was hugely satisfying to see girls grow and mature as singers – from nervous starters to confident young adult performers.
In some years I also taught in the classroom – year 7s, and Sixth Form groups for A and AS Level Music History.
